Most firms learn construction
from one seat.
We've held them all.

Ascendesign was built by people who have been the subcontractor, the designer, the builder, the general contractor — and the developer signing the note. That range isn't a résumé line. It's the reason our drawings get built the way they were drawn, our schedules survive contact with the field, and our budgets hold when the unexpected shows up.

Because we've already been on the other end of every conversation your project is going to have.

We are a design-build firm that solves problems other firms hand back to the owner.

Why Designers Work With Ascend

We think like a design partner,
not an installer.

Architects and interior designers keep hiring us because we speak their language, submit complete drawings, and never show up with surprises. Here's what that looks like in practice.

Pre-Bid Technology Coordination Guide

We Coordinate Before Drywall

Every low-voltage system is coordinated with the structural, electrical, and mechanical trades before rough-in — not after. That means your walls close on schedule.

We Provide Reflected Ceiling Plans

We submit coordinated reflected ceiling plans showing speaker locations, lighting zones, camera positions, and device placement — exactly what designers need.

We Produce Device Elevations

Detailed device elevations show touch panel locations, outlet heights, rack placements, and millwork cutouts — submitted early enough to inform your finish schedule.

We Coordinate With Millwork

AV equipment, touch panels, and rack furniture are coordinated with your millwork shop drawings before fabrication starts. No field surprises.

We Reduce RFIs

Because our drawings are detailed and our coordination happens early, we generate far fewer RFIs than typical low-voltage contractors — saving time for everyone.

We Simplify Commissioning

Our systems are pre-programmed and tested before site commissioning. We walk every room with the owner and leave with a signed punch list — not a punchlist that takes months.

Featured Project

200 Russell Street

A 9-story former utility headquarters, reactivated floor by floor.

46,494 SF9 StoriesHammond, Indiana

200 Russell Street is a former NIPSCO regional headquarters — a high-rise commercial building where every system, from fire alarm to HVAC to lighting, was upgraded and integrated under one design-build scope. That included a full high-end fire alarm replacement, coordinated through licensed subcontractors we specified and managed.

What We Did

Fire Alarm & Life Safety

Full replacement with a Simplex 4100ES-class system — new SLC loop architecture (12 active loops), IDNAC/NAC notification zone configuration, and stairwell pressurization fan control via relay integration. Specified and managed by us, installed by licensed fire alarm subcontractors.

Building Automation

Dual-Miniserver Loxone architecture spanning boiler staging, duct isolation dampers, and lobby lighting, with KNX room controller integration planned across all 10 floors.

Mechanical Integration

Yaskawa VFD integration (60HP supply, 30HP return fans) via Modbus RTU, tied directly into the automation platform for real-time control and monitoring.

Coordination

Every low-voltage and controls scope coordinated before drywall closed — the same standard we hold every project to.
